Hello Bud,
The fantastic organ player that you're asking about is Little Richie Varola. He appeared on the Prima Label albums New Sounds, Prima Generation '72, and Blast Off and was a performing member of Louis' band The Witnesses from 1967-72. Not too long after his departure from The Witnesses, Little Richie was killed in a tragic automobile accident.

Gis or Ron, We were able to see Louis several times. Great shows.Although all the musicians with him we saw were very top notch, the most fun was watching Louis and Sam play back and forth and together. In the late sixties or early seventies we saw an organ player with Louis that reall did a job on "Walk on the wild side"Any idea who that might have been? Thans, Bud

I was watching TV tonight and heard a commercial with a sound that reminded me of my days living in Baton Rouge and in New Orleans. My grandmother Rosa Josephine Culotta would walk around singing , sometimes with her slight Italian/New Orleans accent would say "Louie Prime" . I was young ,maybe 13 or so but when I heard that commercial (I really have no idea who was singing ) made me think of Grandma and her constant singing Louie Prima songs. thanks for the website . Frank

My wife Sandy introduced the music of Louis Prima to me about 12 years ago & I have to say that he has become my all time favorite singer & musician. Besides great music & singing, it seems to me that when you hear Louis performing he always seems to be having the best time of his life. This is true of both his studio as well as his live recordings. The fun & joy in his voice is always present along with a touch of humor. When you factor in the playing of Sam Butera, it's the best. His recordings always make me feel better, no matter what kind of day I'm having. I really enjoy reading the Louis Prima forum & seeing what other fans have to say about Mr. Prima. We have purchased every CD that we can find. I encourage all Louis Prima fans to support him & Gia by purchasing the CD's of them on this website, so that they can continue to be able to be available to "new" fans like myself. Long live the "King" A fan forever!!! Al
