I caught Sam and his band, The Wildest, at the Italian-American Club in San Francisco in June, 2003. A superb show, a great musician. He will truly be missed.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of the legendary musician, entertainer and dear friend Sam Butera. Sam passed away this morning in Las Vegas. He created musical history with Louis Prima and will forever remain the greatest tenor saxophone player that ever lived. His musical legacy will live forever. We send our sincere condolences and sympathy to Mrs. Vera Butera and the entire Butera family. This is a tremendous loss.

I'm not Italian, but I have always loved Louie Prima's music. And who can forget him as King Loiue in "The Jungle Book"? No one, that's who. I am Chef Lou DeAngelis' production guy, and my company, Big Byte Video Productions, produced his cooking show, "My Italian Kitchen." Some of my fondest memories about making that show (well, besides getting to eat the food!), was getting to listen to my Prima favorites while I was laying them into the music tracks. Louie Prima remains in my heart as one of my favorite entertainers---bar none.

While I think a tribute album with Tony Bennett would be great, I just saw him perform a week ago at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. It's amazing how strong his voice still is at 82! I think another good choice would be to approach Harry Connick, Jr. He's a New Orleans boy and definitely has the energy and charisma of Louis - would also be good to see him back at the Jazzfest as it has been a few years. I am really excited to see what the NOJ&H Festival will do to honor Louis - for those who have never gone, I highly recommend it. I've been going 16 out of the last 18 years.

I have just discovered this amazing music and can't stop listening. What a sheltered life I have lived. Only young (ish) so hopefuly time to make up for that.
What I would give to live in that fantastic, exciting and cultural era

Hello, Louie's fans. here in Belgium, it is hard to find any material related to Louie Prima: Lyrics, Music sheets, even records. Perhaps there is a shop in Europe where I can buy such material on line. Thanks for informing me
regards, Yves
